You'll love the earthiness and mild smokey flavours of Espiritu Lauro's Mezcal Joven. It's not all charcoal and soil, though. There are plenty of bright floral flavours and sugary sweet agave for balance.
Not only does Espiritu Lauro use traditional methods to make their mezcal, which, if you didn't know, involves grinding the agave with a stone wheel powered by a donkey, they also cultivate all their own organic agave for their products. Truly a farm-to-bottle mezcal, and we reckon you can taste the time and love put into each batch.
In 2010, Espíritu Lauro was created as a tribute to the founder's grandfather, Don Lauro Martínez, who devised the original recipe in the 1920s. Blending espadín agave with San Martín, a Karwinskii variety, yields a nuanced mezcal. Their palenque, situated in San Agustín Amatengo, upholds tradition and meticulous care.
